Financial Controller (French speaking) – Amsterdam

Genius Recruitment is exclusively working closely together with a rapidly growing international organisation in the search for a Financial Controller with a key focus on the French market. As the new Financial Controller (newly created position) you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting principles and regulation across five entities (including France, USA, Australia and The Netherlands (HQ).

Financial Controller (French speaking)

Location: Amsterdam HQ

(or split between Amsterdam & Paris)

In this role you will ensure production of reliable and accurate accounts including day-to-day bookkeeping through to producing balance sheet, income statement and month end.

Your challenge

To structure the financial processes and ensure timely completion of both internal and external deadlines with regards to various reporting obligations. In addition, you will identify and implement improvements to the existing processes. This role will have a key focus on the newly acquired French entity in addition to the other entities.

Your role

• Implementing, standardising and coordinating accounting functions and systems.

• Managing the period-end accounting closes and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting teams across the group.

• Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, policies and relevant regulation in all relevant countries.

• Maintaining general ledgers in local GAAP (French GAAP must), annual statutory accounts and the statutory filing process.

• Coordination and review of month end for all entities.

• Preparation monthly reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statements) for the entities and consolidated reporting.

• Preparing cash flow forecasts for all entities as well as reviewing balance sheet reconciliations.

• Preparing annual financial statement and annual consolidated financial statements.

Your experience / background

• Bachelor / Master degree in Accounting or similar.

• Minimum 5 years relevant accounting/financial control experience, audit experience would be a great benefit.

• Knowledge French GAAP is a must. It would be an advantage if you experienced working in France in a Head of / Manager Accounting position.

• Solid knowledge of general accounting to be able to maintain & control subsidiary accounting.

• Fluent in French and English is a must.

• Able to drive transparency and simplicity in complex administrative processes.

• Skills: analytical, hands-on, critical, always 2 steps ahead, creative, thinks on their feed, problem solver, solution driven and you can hold yourself in a dynamic, growing and fast paced scale-up.

The team

As the Financial Controller you will be part of the Business Support Team reporting directly to the Group CFO. Team members include a Business Controller, Junior Business Controller, Financial Analyst, Legal & Compliance Manager and Operations & HR Manager. The team also gets supported by 3 working students.
